A great book as it is a pleasure (!) to read and practice the suggestions that follow from the theory. Just the theory applied for making music. Not stuffy at all and very well written.

I've learned classical guitar as a kid. My (very kind and nice) guitar teacher taught me all about the circle of fifth and different chords and inversions etc etc.That was 30 years ago. I picked up my electric guitar again, bought this book, and suddenly, all of what I learned all that time ago finally makes sense. I've really had several "mind = blown" moments while reading this book.It starts at the very, very beginning, is written in very easy language and does not assume any prior knowledge of music theory.I can wholeheartedly recommend these books if you want to know what all those 9s and 11s on chords are about.

I find the real merit of James Shipways "Music Theory for Guitarists" in his brave didatical procedure. He teaches step by step - really - to make sure that everybody can follow the important steps and understand the concepts."Brave" means: As a teacher myself it is absolutely important to deliver such a meticulous procedure. And brave means also be patient, not to rush the students and give them the opportunity to check their understanding: The exercises and solutions are very useful. This book is great! I haven’t finished it since it’s pretty beefy, but the sections I have gone through have taught me so much about music theory in general and with guitar. I’ve taken 8 years of guitar lessons and have continued playing regularly. I’ve learned more about music theory from this book than I ever learned in lessons.If you’re on the fence, I hope this review helps you make the decision to buy it!

Easy to understand.

Llegó el libro que tanto anhelaba. Ahora sí voy a aprender teoría musical aplicada a la guitarra.En la parte de atrás trae unos rayones, pero lo que importa es el contenido 🤘🤗

I have completed book 1, and although I am pretty confident with my musical theory, this book made it very clear, and there were quite a few "Lightbulb " moments, when , thanks to the very clear text, I managed to joint the dots on a LOT of music theory.
