I had been looking to get into glasswork for a while and when I spotted this grinder I figured that it was the perfect opportunity.I didnt really have any preconceptions or ideas of what to expect from this machine so when I removed if from the packaging and turned it on I was immediately impressed. Yes the case of the device is made from plastic (and relatively cheap feeling plastic at that), but its a grinder and as such water suppression is necessary so plastic is the best material to use I imagine. It is very plastic, the aforementined case and the working platform are plastic. The platform is basically an elevated mesh on which the workpiece sits so you can offer it up to the grinding wheel. Beneath the platform is a tank/basin in which the water sits to quench the glass particles removed during grinding. There is a thread on the lower part of the grinding head that draws water up much like and Archimedes Screw and deposits it on to the cutting surface; you need approx 1cm of water in the tank to cover these threads for them to work. There are 2 grinding heads supplied that fit onto the rotating spindle with a grub screw, they are just over 1/2 inch and aone inch in diameter and seem good (but not top) quality. The only control on the unit is a rocker on/off switch and there is s safety fuse (with 2 spares supplied); the mains lead is captive.In use the grinder is great - it runs with a quiet hum although when its grinding things get a lot noisier but that cannot really be helped as its the diamond abrading the glass that creates the noise, yes a heavier case might dampen the noise a bit but probably not massively. The wheel spins at 4200rpm (so it is claimed) which is perfectly adequate for removing material quickly but not throwing it into the air before the water suppression can do its job. The water doesnt spray too much (there is a removable splash guard/visor that you can fit if you like but I chose not to use it so its not absolutely necessary. The machine works in the same way as an electric tile cutter but in a dfferent plane. I found that the machine had good power and the mor didnt struggle when grinding.I like this grinder, its about a third of the price of the more established brand at £115 - it is a little more basic but its a glass grinder and it only really has to do that one whing, which it does. If you are bothered about such things, the orangle plastic case is a bit, well, orange which although it is not my favourite colour it is just a tool that I use, not an ornament. Recommended as a good starter and in all likliehood intermediate and beyond machine.

Die Maschine ist an sich gut, sie tut was sie soll. Es spritzt ziemlich und es ist sehr unpraktisch um das Wasser abzulassen/umzutauschen. Deshalb nur 4 Sterne.
