De Barbute heeft veel veranderingen ondergaan sinds hij in de 15e eeuw voor het eerst op het slagveld kwam. Deze Barbuta-helm met vizier breidt zich uit op het oorspronkelijke ontwerp door een effectief vizier toe te voegen, dat uw bescherming verdubbelt en zorgt voor een intimiderend zicht. Oorspronkelijk was de Barbute, of Barbuta in het Italiaans, een vizierloze oorlogshelm die kenmerkend was voor zijn T- of V-vormige opening, die de drager een duidelijk gezichtsveld gaf. Dit helmontwerp is buitengewoon veelzijdig en biedt een paar opties voor het dragen ervan. Je kunt het op vizier en zo zetten. Het vizier kan op twee verschillende manieren worden geopend, omdat het naar boven kan worden gedraaid, of één pin aan de rechterkant van de helm kan worden getrokken, waardoor de helm naar de zijkant kan draaien (de pin kan zelfs open blijven, zoals De helm heeft een haaksluiting om het roer in gesloten positie vast te houden). U kunt ook aan de pinnen aan beide zijden van de helm trekken om het vizier volledig te verwijderen. De helm is gemaakt van hoogwaardig staal en heeft een ongelooflijk ogende gepolijste metalen afwerking. Het interieur van de helm is voorzien van een voering, zowel voor comfort als voor het maken van kleine aanpassingen aan de maat. Het is een full-size replicahelm die volledig draagbaar is, en wanneer hij wordt gedragen, is hij vrij goed bestand tegen de ontberingen en schokken die worden ervaren tijdens LARP-gevechten en lichte re-enactment. Houd er rekening mee dat deze items handgemaakt zijn. Lichte afwijkingen in patroon, kleur en vorm kunnen voorkomen. Om uw stalen pantser goed te onderhouden, houdt u de metalen stukken altijd uit de buurt van water en licht geolied om roesten te voorkomen. Maak het pantser af en toe schoon met metaalpoets en smeer ze opnieuw in met olie. Er moeten ook leerverzorgingsproducten worden gebruikt om het leren beslag te onderhouden.

This was bought as a dress up for not any serious event. It is fairly heavy so I don't know that you could wear it for any length of time or you might end up with a headache. When it arrived it was fairly oily. Now that we've had it for a while it is beginning to develop a few rust spots so it probably should get oiled again.It does come with a stand as pictured and can be adjusted from the inside to help with the size. It has straps up in the ceiling of the helmet as well as a chin strap. It would fit a fairly big head size.The face mask can be opened and will stay up without being held. I'm not sure how well the glue will hold up with time with the leather inside, as it seems to be pulling away a bit. The helmet seems to be a good build though.

I was looking for a reasonably inexpensive open faced Barbuta helmet. This one was not only reasonably priced but gave the option of two different looks. One can remove the visor by pulling out the two small pins on the sides.The good: Very sturdy. Looks amazing. Has an adjustable liner and chin strap.The Bad: Once lifted up the visor does not stay up. You have to hold it in place or it flips down. While the description says you can remove the pins on one side of the visor to have the visor swing open to one side or the other I would not advise doing this. The little hinges that hold the visor on are the only delicate part of the helmet and I would fear twisting or bending them out of shape if I did this. There was a very small amount of overspray from when the inside of the helmet was painted. So there was a little black paint that needed needed to be scraped off the visor.Other Considerations: I normally wear a large (7 1/4) size hat and this helmet fit me perfectly even with a padded arming coif on, because you can adjust the liner. I should note that I have a reasonably small (Dutch) nose and it just misses touching the visor when I have it down. Someone with a more prominent nose might find it uncomfortable.All in all, I am extremely pleased with the value of this helmet. I was expecting a very lightweight costume piece and it is heavier, sturdier, and more more substantial than I was expecting for the price.

I have collected 11 similar helmets over the years – Greek, Roman, Medieval, etc. This is one of my best. It is very well made. The face plate functions beautifully and is easily removable. The steel is an appropriate heavy gage. One word of cation: have a roll of paper towels ready when unbox it. The helmet come coated in oil for protection.

The helmet was a little small and odd inside. When i put it on, it fits very close to my face and it sits oddly on top of my head. I cut out a piece of Styrofoam and put it by the forehead to take the helmet a bit away from my face and it worked fine. it goes tight enough and feels pretty sturdy. definitely a quality helmet, though could be a better fit.
