This arrives in a printed cardboard box measuring approx 16cm x 19cm x 4cm.It would be easy to wrap & make a nice small present for a crafter/dressmaker.Inside the box, you get the hand press, preloaded with the holder for medium sized pearls, a small bag with an allen key & 4 other sizes of holder, a small bag of the rivets that will fix the pearls to the fabric you are using them on & 3 small bags of pearls in different sizes.These are very easy to use as long as you are careful with the rivets.They are tiny, easy to drop & hard to find once you have.Each of the pearl holders has a small tube of semi opaque plastic on it, which looks a lot like the guards you get on some things that you would remove to use.They need to stay on their heads & you put the pearl into the semi opaque tube so it's sticking out a little (so find the head that fits the pearl you want to fix & use that one).You put the pearl into the tube, attach that head to the press if it's not the one on there, drop a rivet with the pointy bits sticking up towards the pearl into the hole in the bottom part, put your fabric in between & squeeze the handle all the way up.Let go & you should now have a pearl fixed from the back with onto the front of your item.If you aren't sure, you can find videos on YouTube that show you how to do it.I did find that if I gave a pearl a pull (& not that hard of one either) I could pull them off, so I would not ever use these on items for children to play with, but for purely decorative items that kids can't get near or for adult clothing they do look lovely.They wouldn't have come off if I hadn't been pulling at them.This has 2 predrilled holes in the metal frame so it could be fixed to a work surface if required, but can be used as a handheld machine just as easily if you aren't going to be using it all the time.All you need is some fabric & you have everything you need to have a go.You can buy refill packs of pearls & the rivets easily on Amazon in a variety of sizes.I do think the price seems a little high on this item as I've seen them for less than half it's current price.Nice, but being unsafe for toys or clothing around babies or little ones who might pull at them, of limited use for me.
