It’s welded rather than bolted or ‘screwed from behind’ the plate. It’s big too. Highly recommended.

I cannot show this mounted on a wall or ceiling yet since my place has exposed beams (no drywall) and putting bolts into the beams here is a no-no. The base plate needs a solid spot that is wider than normal lumber (1-3/4" thick) on edge anyway. I'm still mulling over ways to use this. The bulk of my gear is the usual collapsible stands designed to be portable but I also have a permanent area for shooting product. I have seen this mount used "upside down" so the flat plate is on top, screwed to the bottom of a wood sheet. Then you put the spigot into the top receiver of a light stand. Then you have a surface you can elevate to position subjects higher or lower to suit your composition and camera height. The receiver for the spigot is stout and the clamp is all metal, like everything in this kit. The handle is comfortable to apply a lot of force because it is so beefy. The bottom face of the base plate is flush, ie. the neck of the spigot receiver is mated to the base plate for keeps. It's not going to loosen over time. The wall anchors require holes approx. 12mm in diameter. The anchor bolt heads fit loosely in a 9/16" or a 14mm socket. A 1/2" socket or a 13mm socket were too small. As long as the place you end up mounting this is strong enough, I can't imagine this mount being the weak point in your rigging or fabrication plans.

This is a review for: NEEWER 3.34 Inch Wall Ceiling Mount 5/8" Baby Pin Stud with 1/4" Thread & 10 Screws, Photography Photo Studio Camera Wall Mount for Ring Light, Video Light, Strobe Flash, Max Load 22lb/10kg, ST-WM1The first observation is this is a hefty mount. As long as you mount this into brick, concrete, a stud or joist, the 22lb load rating is entirely reasonable understanding the locking knob for the stud is also quite stout. If mounting into drywall, I would still try to hit a stud or joist with 2 screws in which case it should be fine.- The instructions are clear- The included fasteners are up to the task- The fit and finish of the parts is excellent- The ability to affix light mounts saves space in the studio/ removes the clutter of a light stand(s)- The added versatility isn't just for monoights but light sticks and other types of lighting and a range of modifiersMisses?None but it goes with the territory: If mounting on a ceiling, you'll be using step or ladder to swap out lights or modifiers. A stand is easy to move up and down not only for light positioning but also for swapping out lights and modifiers. Regardless, ceiling mounting isn't for everyone/ everything. This is yet another well thought-out piece of kit from NEEWER. The workmanship means I won't be second-guessing the specifications. Worth shortlisting. Recommended accordingly.
