Years ago when I first acquired tripod ball heads, prestigious brands, at a cost exceeding 5x that of this Neewer compact unit, I would have found such a bargain unbelievable and undeliverable. Yet moving up in time, I am in position to laud the quality of this compact design, yet still with a 44 mm. ball, (or 54 mm. if you wish,) to hold any photo gear weight without the slightest droop. In my example, using mirrorless equipment and prime lenses, the 44 mm. design is way more than adequate, smooth operation, ergonomically sound, and, while I would not argue it is indestructible, (as if any brand could be.) In event of a crash, I would be inclined to be more concerned about the mounted equipment, then the safety of the ball head. So no quibbling here about minor details such as the small "flipping" lever lock for rotation - a larger knob/lever would be more robust, but certain to get in the way! Some have reported stiffness in the pano rotation. However, my sample is silky smooth, unless I inadvertently overtighten the lock screws on the tripod mount. This serves as a caution, clearly a user error. For others, the location of the notches for the ball is not ideal for bird photography, to point the lens upwards. However, this is also a user misapprehension, since the notch location at the side, right angle to the forward notch, suits the purpose of expeditiously dropping the lens into "poor man's gimbal configuration." Most long lenses can accomplish that because they are able to rotate within their tripod collar for maintaining a landscape orientation. In any case, a full gimbal mount would be a more appropriate purchase for "birding" with telephoto lenses. Neewer does make one, which also appears to be bargain priced! I'm becoming a fan!

This is a good beefy ball much better than my previous 28mm one. My DSLR is now rock steady even with a telephoto on.

Trovo arduo fare recensioni negative su questo prodotto; robustissimo, stabile, saldo, interamente di metallo, realizzato con precisione, movimenti precisi. Lo uso per riprese extreme spesso in situazioni gravose, mai avuto un problema con nessuna fotocamera, anche con montati obiettivi pesanti (vedi foto).Non ultimo trovo interessante la possibilità di utilizzare piastra QR tipo ArcaSwiss che già utilizzo su altri treppiedi.

I ordered this ball head after having an issue with my ball head. I was taking pictures of the glaciers in Alaska with a very heavy lens. The ball head did not hold the lens steady, and I dropped it. Luckily it only shattered my filter! This ball head is very sturdy, even with my heaviest lens. Although it is sturdy, I did not feel as if it added too much weight to the overall tripod. I felt that it was an awesome price for the amount of insurance it provided my equipment. No more crashing cameras or lenses. The camera remains still and stable for those long exposure shots. Quality construction.
