I highly advise against purchasing this USB splitter. Initially, it seemed to work fine with one port, allowing me to charge my ROG Ally. However, the moment I plugged in the dongle for my SteelSeries mouse, the splitter started smoking immediately. The result? My mouse dongle is now completely fried. The damage could have been far worse. This product is not worth the risk—do not buy it!

This adapter has a USB 3.1 male connector directly wired to a USB3.1 female connector and a USB 2.0 female connector. The USB 3.1 connectors have all pins connected directly to each other (except one pair of the data pins per standard), and the USB 2.0 female connector has the USB 2.0 standard pins directly connected to the USB 3.1 connectors. This is not a hub, there are no electronics!So, if you connect this to a PD charger (or QC charger) and plug in a QC or PD device, they will negotiate a voltage and start charging. The problem is, if you plug in a second device, it will not negotiate a voltage, since charging has started, and will be slammed with whatever voltage is currently selected. If it can handle it, fine, if not, smoke! This is a dangerous adapter to carry around if you value your 5V devices!What this adapter is great for is testing larger PD power supplies! The trigger boards that are used to manually select a PD voltage are limited to 5 Amps so you cannot test a PD supply over 100W with them. With this adapter, I can plug the supply into one connector, plug the dummy load (a 150W battery tester with no PD trigger circuitry in it) into another, and plug a PD trigger board into the third. The full current does not go through the trigger board, so it is happy, and it can be used to select the voltage for the dummy load. I tested a 20V, 6.5A supply with this setup and it worked perfectly! The power supply uses PD communication to set the voltage, but exceeds the maximum PD current of 5 Amps.
