When installing, verify if polarity is correct, as LEDs work differently than incandescent bulbs.Color is cold white, light intensity is less than standard w5w bulbs. Will get you out of a ticket as they last longer, but their brightness is the reason for my 3 stars.

Vw werkt wel. Mercedes niet. Goed zichtbaar licht verschil. Ziet mooier uit dan de oude lichtstraal.

Both of the plate lights went out on my car and I didn't want to get a ticket. I figured I would give these a try. They fit night and tightly, the light is a nice clean white, and they are just the right amount of light for the plate. Good product.

No, they aren't super bright but that may be better than you think. They fit the "map lights" in my 03 Jetta. I would say they are about the same brightness as the halogen bulbs they replaced but with a whiter (less red) color temperature. Super bright LEDs are fine when parked but if a passenger needs a light for a few minutes they can make it difficult for the driver to see out. These won't blind the driver and are perfectly adequate for most purposes.The contacts are a little flimsy. They are just simple LEDs without any kind of intelligent circuit, so you do need to have the polarity correct for them to work. I got the first one right on the first try and had to reverse the second one to get it to come on. I haven't put them on an ammeter but I'm sure they draw less power than the halogens.
