This product is a disappointment. Clumsy, fiddly, produces mostly irregular circles. It is hopeless on thin paper. I even tried heavy duty iron on and stick on stabilizer and the results were again inconsistent, more duds than useable circles. It is hard to find a reliable and user friendly tool for cutting circles out there. This one landed in a storage box with 4 other useless and disappointing so called „circle cutters“. The journey continues….

Having tried a number of compass type cutters in the search for manually producing machine-like cut circles, my research led to discovering the NT Cutter Circle. This caters for my needs of producing small circles from 19-25mm, although the cutter can produce larger.The cutter arrived this morning, delivered 2 days in advance of the scheduled delivery date - Amazon delivering a fast delivery service despite not paying for expedited shipping.The cutter itself is a little daunting at first but relatively easy to get your head around, despite limited enclosed instructions. The cutter comes complete with several spare blades housed safely underneath the device, which is great. Reading the measurement bar on the side of the central metal bar requires good lighting, else quite difficult to read. The cutting process itself is intuitive with the best results that I've seen with manually cut circles. Assuming that there's no movement of the material (paper) to be a cut, which could be taped down to cardboard underneath, simply depress the centre button to set the circle centre, apply a little pressure to the outer ring and rotate clockwise - job done. You'll note that the cut-out is free from any pin damage too, as seen with conventional cutters. Having only produced 3 circle cuts prior to writing this review, all produced perfectly cut circles. Good technique will also help but it's the cutter itself that should take credit. If you need to cut small to medium sized circles...forget the cheap compass cutters and get this!

I'm using it to cut filters for the bottom of my Delonghi espresso machine's portafilter basket since no one seems to make them. Top yes, bottom no. It's so I can reduce some of the cholesterol issues you get with metal filtered coffee. This way I know the paper is decent and it's more economical than buying yet another kind of coffee filter.The cutter itself works great, cutting through two layers of V60 filter paper at the same time with ease and once the knulled nut in the middle is cinched down it never changes. It's perfect for my needs. The plastic plate seemed fiddly, but the metal bar in the middle actually has accurate measurements engraved on it so you really don't need it. I love the little storage compartment for extra blades on the bottom and the extra they give you. It looks like it came from the 60's or 70's and that's fine, they got it right the first time.When it comes to using it. Don't press too hard on the outer ring, keep decent pressure on the middle, let the blade's sharpness do its job and you'll be golden. Don't expect it to cut much more than paper or thin plastic.
