The instructions don't say a lot but does tell you how to season the press before use -coat in an oil containing saturated fat, heat it to 400F for an hour, let it cool, repeat 4 times. I used vegetable oil and my oven to achieve a nice black finish that protects the metal from rust and is easy to clean. Shame the handle goes black too as I liked the wood appearance but the instructions said to seasons that too so I did. The press is easy to use, just sit it on your steak, chicken, whatever, let it cool then turn it over and repeat. The crust on steaks is amazing with this -i actually bought it after seeing a chef in a YouTube video using a different protein press showing how the steak isn't dry and has a better crust, he clearly knew his stuff. I used this a lot nowadays.
