Tried this for drilling at 90° and 45° so far by just setting the angle by the inbuilt gauge and the results were spot on. This is the second O'SKOOL tool I have tried so far and the build quality and finish are amazing, better than some of the top leading brands. When using it with the guide rods raised out of the base, for any angle other than 90° there is a slight torque reaction against the two rods which makes the slide bind slightly, doesn't affect the accuracy and is something which would be helped with a drop of light machine oil or lithium grease on the slides and only using sharp drill bits. I particularly like the way the base has been cast to include a V to hold round stock, the fact that the guide rods can be dropped below the bottom of the base so it can be used to automatically find the centre line and the inclusion of a 1:1 scale template of the base so you can make custom jigs. Not cheap at £98 but a very well made tool which when used with care will give excellent results.

I’m very impressed with this and if you look closely, I’m 100% convinced that the same manufacturer builds the rockler and the UK drill guide but with this you can save $100 plus. It’s very solid. Best drill guide I’ve ever had. I needed it because I’m building a large dining table that will require some threaded inserts on the underside and wanted to make sure I drill square. The cool thing is that these rods win at a 90° position stick into the base ensuring very solid lock up. To change angles, you have to loosen the two hex screws on the guide posts and the guide bars themselves can slide up out of base in order to pivot to an angle. I think this is a really smart design to ensure 90 degree position is correct and solid, which I’ll be using 90% of the time.
