My Tuxedo male one year old cat eats like a pig. He would finish his food in a minute flat with a regular bowl. With this, it takes him at least 5 minutes. To slow him down more, I give him half a portion and feed my other cat them feed him his second portion. My female is more delicate with her eating so I can give her a full portion. My male manages to peel the suction cups off the floor and then carries the mat around like a dog. I would recommend making sure there is no water dish to spill next to the mat as my male had upended his water dish several times when pulling up his mat.
