It comes protected with a peel off covering to make sure it's scratch free when it arrives.The light is bright, but not overly so. It could be used as a night light.The provided cord has an included inline switch to turn the light on and off but you will need to supply a standard cell phone style power supply to get it going.The real wood base is nicely finished in walnut and looks great in our theater.

Since the 1970s I have been collecting record albums. I have thousands. Too many, she says. That would be my partner. I'm cluttered and she hates that. Get rid of all these LPs she says. So I am working on that. I list my records on-line. There are millions of records for sale on this site where I am listing them. You can probably guess where that is.Here's my concern; with all these other records competing for attention how do I get prospective buyers to click on the stuff I'm selling? How can I stand above the crowd and get noticed? When I saw this display device I thought that this might be a really good way to get noticed. Now when I take photos of really special record albums to list for sale on-line I am posing the records in this display holder. I am already getting more clicks and views of my stuff and I think it will increase my sales. That should make someone in my house very happy.So I am jazzed about having this LP display that lights up. Very cool idea. And it was easy to set up.

The bad: The first unit I was sent was defective with a intermittant electrical connection causing the light to flickerThe good: The seller, without hesitation, sent me a replacement within a few days and the replacement works perfectly.Over all here's how I would describe the product:1. The base is very well built. Feels solid and is sturdy.2. The piece of plastic that sits in the back slot has a bit of wobble when placed in its slow but not too bad.3. Power cord is a little short especially for someone will tall speakers like me4. Light is nice and bright. In a small dark room like mine, it casts enough light that I didn’t need to turn on my desk lamp.5. The light is soft6. Designs on the plastic pieces are nice and neat7. Packaging was great.Take a look at the pictures. They don't really do justice to the "feel" or "ambiance" of the room while listening to a good record and this warm lite is glowing over the selected album.
