Best features: slim profile, excellent hip straps, comfortable shoulder straps, and just enough frame on the back without feeling stiff. It carries a lot of stuff without feeling bulky or cumbersome.Im a backpack snob, and this is a fantastic backpack. I needed a “do everything” pack and it fits the bill perfectly. I travel a lot for work, so I needed something that could go from a plane to an industrial jobsite and be worn for hours without getting uncomfortable. Aside from work, I wanted a daypack for long hikes in the mountains or adventures seaside. My bag goes with me everywhere. Osprey needs to market their mountain biking bags as multi purpose, this is my second and I love them.

Starting off with my 1 con that I have with the Osprey Escapist 25: the water bottle pockets are too shallow. Multiple times I've had water bottles fall out (not while cycling) while I took the bag off my shoulders.This is my go-to travel backpack. I removed the rain cover and use that pocket for a tote bag. The sleeping-bag compartment fits my packing cube. Ipad and tech pouch fits the laptop sleeve. The side pocket is useful for quick access to small items like a coin pouch. The front stuff pouch is good for a bicycle lock or a jacket. The helmet dongle works.I've hiked and bicycled all day with this pack with the straps becoming wet with sweat and no funk.

Very comfortable bag to use when road biking and going fast. I appreciate the easy to use zippers and deep compartments. No issues with sweat but have not used it in summer yet. Also looks slick

I'm a hiker first, biker second. So, it was a little confusing as to why the "desirable" backpacks were on the smaller side compared to the hiking packs.It didn't take long to figure out that the very close to center of your body way that these hold everything makes the chore of carrying cargo alot easier on rough trails.Everything cinches down to a nice tight aerodynamic hump. The chest and waist straps keep it all firmly attached to your torso.This is my first real use of the Airscape back ventilation. It works very well. It seemed to work best with a very slight scoot here and there on your back. That lets the air hit all the sweaty spots and dry them out - while providing extra cooling.The construction quality is absolutely top notch. I've used the Osprey hydration bladder previously and it's definitely worth adding in to this bag. It's alot easier to carry a large volume of water vs the bottle.

Oprey’s Escapist 25L (Medium/Large - Black) comes about as close to perfection as it gets, they have honed the design to meet so many needs. There’s a flexible core for cycling, the padding and suspension needed for hiking, the storage for long commutes.Along the back the base is ridged for air flow, there’re hip fins for stability. A cavity slot can hold a hydration bladder (not included). The harness has a firm Velcro base that can be adjusted. There’s a compartment to hold a sleeping bag which converts to extend the main compartment, also a nice side pocket for the damp stuff. A rain cover with its own pouch is conveniently placed at the base of the pack. There’s good padding, incredible construction, with places to hold water, tools, clothes and snacks, also hooks for helmets and lights, and an emergency whistle.I suggest pulling up a couple of videos for all that this pack has to offer. It’s impressive, very versatile, unisex. It holds a lot while maintaining a long and thin profile - 21.65” in length for the medium/large, 19.69” for the small/medium.I haven’t yet figured out what works best for the phone. Mine fits in the hip fin pockets.
