Does it cut vegetables like onions/potatoes/garlic? Yes. But almost as if someone is blindfolded and attack your vegetables with a knife. It doesn't cut tomatoes.I would not recommend it.

Heel eerlijk, het is echt een prima product maar ligt nu te verstoffen in het raamkozijn. Vond het iets teveel qua schoonmaken waardoor ik toch liever het mes gebruik

This is a superb bit of kit. I have used it every day so far. Even if I only used it to chop onions ( the bane of my life) that alone would justify the purchase. But I also find it useful for chopping other vegetables such as carrots and courgettes and celery for my soup maker or even making soup on the hob. It's definitely time saving and everything is contained in the container. I have a little trouble opening it for cleaning but it's not essential for every day cleaning. It is sharp. Keep your fingers away from the cutting blades.

Okay, I'm not crazy. I bought the OXO Good Grips Chopper for my cat. You see, he recently (a few months back) had to have all of his teeth removed due to his own body basically destroying his own teeth. His teeth were keeping his gums inflamed, and according to our veterinarian this happens to many cats. It was a hard decision, but necessary. Cats don't really chew their food, they mostly "tear" off chunks and swallow them. His gums healed quickly and nicely, but this left him with just about no way to make his food easy to "swallow." I found that we were doing a lot of "chopping" portions of his canned food so that he can eat it. Our vet feels that canned meat-based meals helps to keep him hydrated and is more in line with what cats evolved to need. I didn't mind trying to cut up the meat chunks for him, but it was becoming somewhat time-consuming and at times difficult because some of what the pet food manufacturers are canning can be rather "tough!" It was no wonder that our poor cat wasn't able to eat all of his food. One day while attempting to prep his food I had this memory pop-up of a TV commercial for the old "Popeil Chop-O-Matic" food-prep chopper. I'd never used one, but in remembering that idea I immediately pictured using it to chop up our cat's canned meat and seeing the result as him being able to easily eat the finely chopped food. Well, I didn't really consider looking for a "Popeil" chopper, but after looking over a number of reviews I ordered this OXO Good Grips Chopper. It arrived very quickly (next day!) and it was just as shown in the reviews. After giving it a thorough wash and re-assembly, I put in a can of cat food and "chopped" away! In seconds this little gadget produced exactly what I'd been thinking we needed, but more importantly, our cat showed me that it was the right decision. He cleaned his bowl, which he hadn't been able to do for some time. This little device produces a much finer and more consistent result than anything I can do by hand. Plus, it's quite practical to use and clean because it can work either directly on a cutting board or with the included chopping chamber. The cat food is best chopped in the chamber, which has a removable bottom plate that seals itself with a rubber seal and also has a seal-able lid if you want to "chop and store." What we do is open a fresh can, chop the meat and then return it to the can and serve multiple meals from the can that has its own sealing top. The OXO comes all apart, so you can easily rinse it off and then wash it along with anything else you need to clean up. If you don't want to wash it right then, you can let it set until your ready to do the dishes because it's not going to hurt any of the plastic parts and the chopping blade is stainless steel, so don't worry about it! My wife recently had a lot of baking to do for an upcoming camping trip (she likes to pre-bake a lot of goodies for the group!), and that meant chopping nuts, fruits, etc. and the OXO "sailed through it all" without a blink! How fine do you want your walnuts? Just keep chopping until it's just the way you want it, and it doesn't take long, either. The OXO Good Grips Chopper has been an excellent buy and has been a God-send for our cat. Does it have any downsides? Well, the most negative aspect I've found is when you've pulled it all apart to wash it and then put it back together again, there is a small problem with getting the part that the blade protrudes through when you "chop-down" on the handle doesn't always "lock" into the body that you hold in use. Lock may be too strong of a word; it's more like it fits into the body with a slight interference-fit, which doesn't really hold it very firmly in place. But that just means that sometimes you have to push the part back up and try again to make it stay-put. I didn't mark the chopper down for that because it's possible I just haven't gotten a "feel" for how the part actually "locks" yet. All-in-all, this is a great addition to our kitchen and I can't recommend it enough!
