This is the perfect size for any very small fry or shrimp tanks or even as an alternative to an air stone. If you hate the static noise sound from using an airstone ect, this little sponge filter is the perfect with the extra benefit of building up beneficial bacteria in your aquarium. You do get very slightly bigger bubbles, but a very gentle flow of them without the horrible sound. It really is not suitable for any thing bigger though, unless you size up. Always research appropriate fish care for the fish type you choose to keep and then get the appropriate set up and filter. I got this to use alongside a HOB filter for extra gas exchange so it was ideal in my nano tank for that purpose instead of an air stone. Easy to assemble, but better to use a regular hose line to comet it up, and you will also need your own check valve and air pump.
