I had high hopes for this product as it would mean less time spent for this dirty task. But things didn't go as well as advertised.First few days my cat didn't even attempted to use it as it has moving parts and he was afraid.After that he used it during the night when I was asleep but the next morning I saw that the front plastic part is removed from its place and there is poop everywhere. Also there was poop on the wrong side of the grill, stuck in there, never to be removed automatically.So I can only assume the auto collector went too early or went while the cat was still in there. I also believe the front part is very easily removed and it is not designed to be attached firmly.Overall after a bad couple of days he became more accustomed and now the situation looks better.As a result, I can now have less worry about these problems and suggest the product anyway to those who also hate manual cleanup. I do believe a standard litterbox is still needed as a backup though.

Unfortunately, this litterbox falls short in almost every way that it claims to help. I have one small cat (a female weighing 3.5 kg).1. The litter refill does not last the stated time. Even if you follow the instructions to the letter (e.g., keep it in a dry room, so not the bathroom), I could not go more than a week without removing the poo and two weeks without changing all the litter. After just a couple of days, the poo starts smelling and after around 10 days I could see clumps of urine-saturated crystals sticking to the bottom of the tray. As mentioned above, my cat is small, so if any cat should allow the litter to meet the manufacturer-stated duration, it should be mine.2. The litter tracks everywhere and hurts to step on. Unlike pine or sand litter, these crystals are quite sharp.3. When the program runs, it is noisy. My cat, fortunately, is not bothered by loud sounds, so it did not make her afraid to use the litter box, but if yours is, reconsider litter boxes.4. Similar to point 3, the litter box gets noisier with use. The crystal litter gets into the grooves where the automatic rake runs through and make a horrible scraping sound. Sticking a vacuum into the grooves or trying to shake the litter loose only sort of helps, at best temporarily. It may not bother your cat, but I guarantee it will bother you!5. It's gross. When the rake runs through the litter box, sometimes poo gets stuck onto the rake. So you have dried clumps of poo on the automatic rake that you have to get in and clean out by hand.6. The litter refills are expensive and wasteful. I can ignore the price, because that's what I expected when I got this litter box, but I didn't realize how wasteful the packaging and disposable bottom tray would be.All of this adds up to a litter box that I really cannot recommend. If it met its promise of being easy to use, requiring less frequent cleaning, and hygienic, I would be happy to recommend it, despite the high cost. But it doesn't really save any work, starts smelling bad pretty quickly (which is unpleasant for you and the cat), is a pain to clean, and is honestly quite gross.My cat now uses a pine sifting litter box, which is much less work, cleaner, smells better, can be in the bathroom without fear of the humidity ruining the litter, and is just less of a pain to use.

I really wanted to like this product, but unfortunately it's not worth it.I bought it over a year ago, and bought 9 x 3 replacement boxes in that period. That means our single cat is averaging 2 weeks per replacement box - way less than the advertised "more than a month" per cat. In the end you're spending way more on litter replacements than on e.g. food.In addition, it starts to smell *really* bad when it's due to be replaced, because of the open entrance. I have no idea why they didn't make a door in the entrance like traditional litter boxes.Additionally, the hard crystals get littered throughout the house, way more than cheap litter. They are quite painful as well when stepping on it.So in short: more expensive, smells worse, more litter in the house and in the end it's the same or more work.In the end I moved back to a traditional litter box.

ScoopFree s'en charge pour vous.La seule chose qui vous reste, c'est de changer la litière régulièrement (je le fais tous les 15 jours pour un chat, moins souvent que ça, ça commence à sentir).Comment ça marche ?C'est très simple :Vous achetez des boîtes à litière spécifiques à ScoopFree.Quand il est temps de changer la litière, vous soulevez la machine qui auto-nettoie le sable (après l'avoir débranchée pour éviter tout problème potentiel), vous placez le couvercle qui vient avec la nouvelle litière sur l'ancienne que vous pouvez directement jeter, et enfin vous mettez la nouvelle litière là où était l'ancienne.Vous remettez la machine auto-nettoyante en place... et le tour est joué !C'est l'affaire de même pas 10 minutes en tout tous les 15 jours / 3 semaines !Comme je suis un malade de propreté, au moment de changement de litière, je nettoie bien la machine auto-nettoyante. Mais à la limite ce n'est pas nécessaire.En utilisation, votre chat va faire ses besoins comme d'habitude et 10 minutes après qu'il ait fini, une grille en fer placée à l'arrière de la litière pousse les excréments solides vers un receptacle qui se trouve à l'avant (receptacle que vous n'avez jamais à toucher ni même voir ce qu'il y a dedans, puisqu'il part avec le changement de litière), puis revient à sa place en lissant le sable et en le mélangeant bien pour que les urines disparaissent.Certains bacs à litière ScoopFree permettent de changer la durée entre le moment où le chat sort de sa litière et celui où la grille fait son oeuvre.Je ne pense pas que ce soit utile : 10 minutes permettent aux excréments de bien se solidifier et ainsi de ne pas se couper en petits morceaux lors du nettoyage.Pas de problème de sécurité non plus :Il y a un sensor dans la litière pour éviter tout problème dans le cas où le chat retournerait faire ses besoins au mauvais moment !Et le chat, qu'est-ce qu'il en dit ?PetSafe fournit avec la litière auto-nettoyante un guide qui vous explique comment faire pour que votre chat s'habitue à la machine.C'est très clairement expliqué, mais heureusement je n'ai pas eu à m'en servir.Dès que j'ai installé sa nouvelle litière (en laissant quand même l'ancienne à côté pendant 24 heures au cas où...), j'ai mis le chat dedans pour qu'il comprenne ce qui se passe.Il a très vite compris, allant une fois faire ses besoins dans l'ancienne litière, une fois dans la nouvelle...Ce qui l'a surpris, et même apeuré pendant une bonne quinzaine de jours, c'est la partie auto-nettoyante. Les toutes premières fois, il a eu vraiment très peur en voyant cette grille se balader dans son sable et 'ramasser' ses besoins.Puis, pendant quelque temps il accourait dès qu'il entendait le système auto-nettoyant démarrer (ce n'est pas bruyant du tout, mais vous connaissez l’ouïe des chats !) , et il restait là à regarder la machine travailler avec le plus grand intérêt.Presque 2 mois après avoir commencé à l'utiliser, la litière fait partie du paysage, et le chat n'y porte pas plus d'intérêt que ça !Maintenant, parlons coût, puisque c'est ce que tout le monde reproche à ScoopFree.C'est vrai que la machine par elle-même est un investissement : 163€ c'est quand même plus cher que tous les bacs à litière que vous pouvez trouver n'importe où, même les plus beaux !Je dirais que c'est le prix à payer pour fuir la corvée journalière de nettoyage de litière.Quant aux bacs de remplacement.Beaucoup se plaignent de leur prix élevé (je les achète par trois, soit 40€ les 3).J'ai comparé par rapport à ce que me coûtait la litière 'classique' que j'utilisais auparavant (Magic Clean de Vitakraft - ma préférée car elle fait moins de poussière, elle assèche bien les excréments,...), plus tous les 'à-côtés' comme les sacs à mettre en fond de litière pour un nettoyage plus facile, les produits nettoyants, etc.Bref, pour un période de 6 semaines, ScoopFree me coûte 40€.Pour la même période, la méthode classique me coûtait... 44€ !(Sans compter le temps perdu à nettoyer cette horrible litière classique !)En d'autre termes, la litière auto-nettoyante ScoopFree n'est pas plus chère en utilisation qu'une litière classique, et elle est bien plus pratique et agréable pour le maître du chat !Ce qui est cher, c'est l'investissement initial.Personnellement, je ne le regrette pas. Bien au contraire !

I have 2 older cats , 15 anc 2 years old, who have free access to our big garden . But the last and youngest one, and fluffiest one , a 4months now Br. Longhair, is a breed that is better to remain an indoor cat. So! The wished solution: Pet Safe litter box, after I made a long research! Satisfied? Very!! Because the 3 weeks that worked for my fluffy kitten, are very satisfied!! BUT: every 7 days, I removed the poops from the integrated box. Putting them in a little plastic bag , and putting it in the garage. Then , within 3 weeks, I put the old crystal litter in the same bag, threw it away, and the carton box with the cartons taken away by the Community service. But next time I will see whether the whole old litter box fits in the Community service trash bag, to throw it directly away in the bag . It would be more practical, and ....pleasant!

This is a godsend if you hate scooping the tray! I empty when it gets to 30 uses.Set and forget :)I also added the hood, which is needed if you have a cat that likes to bury and spread litter over the shallow sides. Or if they like privacy.Stays clean and doesn't jamb up! Although I do wipe the scraper blade and sides when I change the litter tray. It doesn't get poop dirty, but it has been exposed to urine and poop, so a wipe occasionally is a good idea.
