Pricey but…reliable, rechargeable, lightweight and stays on your head! It will still be lighting your way when that cheaper piece of foreign knock-off crap has disintegrated.

Bought this mainly for travel and camping, but I’ve ended up using it around the house more than I expected. It’s small but gives off a seriously good beam — plenty bright for walking the dog at night or fiddling with cables behind the TV.The red and green lights are actually useful too — I thought they were a gimmick, but the red’s great for keeping night vision, especially if you’re reading or moving around in the dark. It’s also very lightweight and comfortable, even after wearing it for a while. The button is easy to use even with gloves on.Only downside? I wish it came with rechargeable batteries as standard — but it works with standard AAAs and doesn’t chew through them too quickly.Overall, if you want a solid, no-fuss headlamp that does exactly what it says, this is a brilliant pick.

As a veteran, essential kit like this headlamp, falls into my category I call, "What if I dial 911, and nobody comes?"Like knives, and compasses, lights can readily be imagined into scenarios where your own ability to function, even perhaps to protect yourself and others becomes critical.At such a time, it's no time to be wishing you'd spent an extra $20 and bought something with confidence. That's squarely where this torch sits for me. I could, but don't take it camping - it's part of my emergency preparedness. I live in an area that's been hammered for a few years by so-called 1-in-100-year storms etc. We've been flooded more than once and had a few other scenarios that haven't been fun. This head torch never left my noggin, sometimes for days at a time. It seemed to run forever on a couple of tiny batteries, the beam was clear, I could use color modes (like red) at the push of a button, and the same for changing the beam intensity. I never got the 'itchies' which some other brands' head straps seemed to give me. It has just got about what it promised, without missing a beat.If the dependability of your kit is as important to you, as it is for me - this is the one to buy.
