These are the first snow chains I have ever owned. I chose them because they scored high in an ADAC test.I'm not particularly good with mechanical things, but I was still able to install them -- almost correctly, in under an hour. I imagine it will be easier next time.The instructions provided are fair -- they tell you what to do, but they fail to point out important details (what to watch out for, what NOT to do, how to go about doing what you should). If you're a beginner like me, you'll miss these details too.The instructions are provided on a sheaf of waterproof material, which is thoughtful.Some little red plastic things (that are hopefully only for decoration) broke off relatively early, but the chains still worked.Of course, driving in the snow with these on was incomparably better than without them (I wouldn't even have been able to leave my parking space without the chains). When braking, they can be life-savers (and collateral-savers as well, which isn't something to be sneezed at).Removing the chains was somewhat easier than installing them, but not much. It's difficult to do complicated things with cramped, freezing fingers while kneeling in the cold, wet snow.Since I have no experience with other snow chains, I really can't say how these perform relative to the competition.

Very happy with this product, after a trial run you can put these on or take the in about a minute and a half flat per tire after getting used to the idea of the red ratcheting mechanism. Got them for my civic and they allowed me to travel ice covered hilly roads in my area with no problem. An excellent product I would definitely recommend to a friend.
