Just the job

I’ve always viewed aprons as just a necessity, something to throw on and get the job done in. Then I found this Pincy denim apron, and frankly I would wear it all day if I could! It reminds me of wearing denim dungarees or pinafore dress - comfortable and stylish.The fabric is a wonderfully soft, genuine denim. It’s not the thick bulky type of denim, it’s soft and flexible. The stitching is excellent. There are two pockets which are deep and useful.The style was new to me - I like the way the ties pull back from the neck and thread through the hidden loops to form a criss cross at the back. It takes longer to put on than the traditional style for sure (though now I’m used to it, it only takes a few seconds longer.) And once it’s on, it fits properly. Whereas on the trad style you then have to start adjusting the neck ties to get it to fit at the top. This denim one fits as closely as you want it to - I find that it doesn’t flap about at the top and the sides like the traditional style. The straps are so long there’s no issue about whether it’ll fit, whatever your size, male or female.Washing instructions are machine wash at 30 degrees. I would suspect that being 100% cotton it could be washed hotter if needed for hygiene purposes, but I haven’t yet put that to the test.It makes me happy to wear it, whether I’m cooking or cleaning, woodworking or painting, and I’m happy to be seen in it whoever turns up at the door. I definitely recommend it, and would happily buy it as a gift too. The current price is on offer at £14.93 and I think this is a great price for such a quality apron.

This apron arrives folded in a ziplock bag measuring approx 28cm x 19cm x 2cm.I would take it out of the bag if I was planning to gift it & stick it in a bag or wrapping paper as it would make a lovely gift.The fabric is denim & the stitching is in the same orangey colour you usually see on denim clothing.The straps are only attached at the top of the bib.Inside the edges of the skirt part of the apron are denim loops (look like belt loops on jean) that you thread the straps through then tie it around your waist.This makes the size of the apron really adjustable so you can pull the bib up closer to your neck or further away as you prefer.I really like this apron, but if you are often in a hurry putting aprons on/taking them off it does take an extra few seconds to use this style.I wanted this for working in my greenhouse & the denim fabric is perfect.It's tough, it has 3 pockets on the front (one larger which is half the pocket area, one slightly smaller with a thinner one you can keep a pencil/pen in) sewn with the same double stitching you see on jeans.I have already chucked it through the wash with jeans as had a very faint odd smell when it arrived which I only noticed when I put it on.It now just smells like my fabric softener.This would also work well as a kitchen apron - the denim means it's a very unisex look so suitable for anyone.I'm very happy with this & if I needed another one (although being denim I think it would take years for it to need replacing) I'd buy without hesitation.

The apron looks more fitted around the legs and attractive on. The cross back design means it is a bit more fiddly to put on than an apron with a fixed neck strap. It also isn't as easy to hang from a door hook. The apron has two long straps extending from the bib . You throw these over your shoulders and cross them at the back and then thread the ends through the loops on the underside of the apron at the waist ends and pull to the required tightness and tie behind. I found that due to my large waist size (35 inches) that I couldn;t quite tie the ends in front. The apron is well made, everything stitched well and some nice details. It will be hard weaing and I like the front pockets, always useful to have in an apron. The design means you can achieve a nicer less flappy sillhouette than with a neck strap apron.
