Pop Standards Piano Book: 63 Super Easy Piano For Beginner

Very well presented and easy to read. In my opinion value for money and good value. Well bound cover. All I wanted.

This is a great collection of pop standards—not “hidden gems”, but rather music you will absolutely be familiar with (in 2024). Several Beatles tunes, but then some happy surprises like “You are the Reason”, “Someone You Loved”, “You Say”, “All of Me”—and again, these are Lead Sheets (fake sheets) with the treble clef for the melody (right hand), and chord symbols (like G, Bbm, F#m, etc.) above the lyrics for the left hand, but no bass clef. Plus, the note names are in the note heads, a nice plus for beginners. And like the Ultimate Guitar app, diagrams for the left hand chords appear just under the title, including the logical chord inversions. to use—Yay!). I created a Spotify playlist of the entire book so I can get the songs in my ears. This song book is worth every penny! Lastly, be aware that every song has two pages of music. Unfortunately, while the music and text are clear, those two pages are front/back, not side by side. (Something for Edgar to fix in future editions, wink, wink.) Peace! (IRL)

Whoever designed this book does not play piano. The first part of the song is on one page and you have to flip the page in the middle of the song …for every single song because it wasn’t printed properly. Each song is two pages and should not be set up to have to turn the page. Terrible. Don’t buy this book

As a teacher, this book is pointless. Playing a tune with letters in note heads robs the student of precious note reading practice. It also teaches sloppy rhythm reading, because the student will want to play what they have heard and not the rhythms written in this book which have, understandably been simplified. There is no point to learning to play a tune wrongly in my opinion. Terrible book!
