The lid of the petri dish is not a lid but a larger petri dish, and the difference is so great that they do not seal tightly and cannot be made airtight in any other way either. It's completely pointless to try to do a protected cultivation in these "petri dishes with lids". What a joke. Do not buy! You can tape two plates together instead. That's better.

Very happy with these. The glass is clear and feels quite substantial considering just how fragile these dishes are in reality. The sizing is a little off, 87mm (measuring from the outside edges) the lid is just over 97mm. Both dishes are the same depth so the sizing isn't an issue for me as I can use them interchangeably. They arrived well packed in tissue paper, bubble wrap and snuggly fitted inside a sturdy box. No breakages. Wouldn't hesitate to buy this brand again.

Je souhaitais des boîtes durable qui puissent être stérilisés facilement mais je suis assez déçu de ce choix ! Le couvercle de l'une des boîte s'est cassé en plusieurs morceaux sans raison apparente et les morceaux de couvercles étaient extrêmement fins (verre trop mince par endroit ?) et la stérilisation est un échec, je soupçonne une grande différence de diamètre entre la boîte et son couvercle de permettre à des bactéries de "s'inviter". En tout cas ce n'est définitivement pas un bon choix pour l'usage que je souhaitais en faire (mycologie) ni probablement dans beaucoup d'autres !

A petri dish usually has a well fitting lid which comes halfway down the dish so it can be sealed with a strip of tape. These lids are the same depth as the dish and are extremely loose fitting. This means theyre not sealable which makes them useless.
