These things are pretty sweet. Let me start by saying, I don't have a Rode Mic. I actually am using this with my Sennheiser EW 112P mics, which to be fair are a little on the big side for this system, but it still works. I read one review that said it bulges, and it definitely does, but if you only put it in about half way, you don't get as bad of a bulge and it gives the outcome I was hoping for, which was a way to hide the mic without getting rubbing noise. I don't love the tape that comes with it, and I almost gave 4 stars because of that, but it does hold fairly well. I'll probably put a small strip of gaff tape over the rubber to help hold it in place, or as a replacement to the tape they provide all together, just in case, but that is really my only drawback for these. I think for larger work where you're going to be able to place it directly on the skin, it's perfect, but at that point, I'd probably use a boom mic anyway. For run and gun, it's not gonna be ideal, but then again, that depends on how you set it up, but if you're doing sit down interviews and can run the mic, it holds to clothes pretty well. I haven't noticed any sound issues placing the mic only half way in, which was my biggest concern since I knew up front the mic was a little big. Another thing I think this would be great for is weddings actually. I have filmed a few, and I know some brides/grooms hate to see the mic and rubbing noise defeats the purpose of having the lav on the groom. I'd again add a strip of gaff tape for extra support, but in the end this would be awesome for that kind of work since you can tape it directly on the inside of the lapel and not have any rubbing issues! In my opinion, for under $20, these are outstanding additions for any audio kit.

I though the product was very interesting at first, well built. And I had heard good reviews as well.Very simple to use. You insert your lav in the little silicone device and you tape it on your skin or your shirt and you are good to go! (You receive few pieces of tape with the package, but you definitely need to buy some more if you use it on a regular base). But the audio result were quite disappointing. The only advantage of this over a regular wind screen and clip, is that you can put it anywhere under the clothing. But when the actor was moving his arms, or laying on the ground (for a yoga video...), There would be a lot of undesirable sounds. Even the clothes moving over the mic were making noise. I ended up buying bobby pins and hiding the mic in the air of the actor! I get a bit more background sound... BUT no phasing or dynamic issues (Since the mic is always at the same distance from the mouth). And no noises of any kind!So I don't know... maybe there is a magic trick on how to place it so it works. On my part, I tried many different placements without any successful attempt.
