I was hesitant about buying a rapier 33 as all the you tube reviews said it was a great guitar but they were paid promotions. As i have competent guitar tech skills i took a gamble. Most Chinese made guitars these days are built really well. Problems usually only occur because of cheaper hardware or electronics which can be changed easily. On receipt of my artic white guitar, i was really impressed. I did a few tweaks to set it up to my taste. A very minor adjustment to string height and I lowered the pickups. The neck was dead flat so I added a touch of relief by adjusting the truss rod. If this guitar was bought by a novice player with no knowledge of guitar set up, they would have no problems playing this instrument out of the box.The tuners are Wilkinson and I found them to be accurate and responsive with no slippage. The tremelo system is very light to the touch. The arm is threaded and tight so it stays in position. Tonally this guitar is unique with its bass cut switch. It is great for jangly rythym playing or soloing. The frets were mainly level with just one, the 18th very slightly higher. This was so minor i do not feel a need to correct it. Overall the build quality is excellent. The guitar intonation was perfect. I would, however ,recommend lubricating the neck with lemon oil as the rosewood was dry. It quickly hydrated and darkened. My guitar had no sharp frets and I found the neck very comfortable. Very similar shape and feel to a squier classic vibe stratocaster neck. The pickups are fantastic and I experienced no noise as they are mini humbuckers. Shielding issues are therefore not relevant.I am so impressed with this guitar that I am considering purchasing a rapier sapphire model in the near future. It's good to see old designs being revamped and improved for players who want something a bit different tonally and in looks.

Welche Musik spielt man gerne?

I bought this guitar because my first guitar was a 1960's Watkins Rapier and I always regretted trading it in.The Rapier is much better than the one I had. They have changed the headstock, the original one was way too big. The trem system is much better too, it actually holds it's tuning very well. The neck is a little bigger than the one on my favourite 1976 Fender Strat but I've gotten used to it. The pickups are interesting, the selector switch gives you the two outside pickups plus both on together, the middle pickup has it's own onoff switch and separate volume control. there is also a bass cut switch, so there is a variety of sounds. I've just recorded a song with it that's in the style of Peter Green and it sounds great. It's a solidly built instrument, and I chose the blue colour for it's retro aesthetic. Overall it's an improvement on the original and I'm enjoying playing it.

When you pick up a new electric-guitar, your hands tell you much .. it's weight, which tells you about the wood used .. the feel of the neck under your hand needs to be comfortable .. and unplugged it should still sound good - welcoming .. This guitar doesn't feel alive and doesn't sound alive .. plug it in and it still feels and sounds wrong .. sure, it's retro and pretty .. so if all you want is Looks .. go for it ..
