Best underside head for it's price. Far superior to the Evans equivalent. I found this head keeps its tone for a good 3 months of solid playing whereas the Evans equivalent tore/broke even after a few hours of use. This head does not have the awful nasty resonating high pitched whine that the Evans head does have too. This head coupled with A Remo Coated Emperor X and a single piece of Moongel produced a fantastic unbeatable tone. Would recommend no other.

I wanted to fatten up the sound of my 6.5 x 14" snare drum, and replaced a Hazy Ambassador with this Hazy Emperor. It did exactly as desired. I lost just a little sensitivity, but I got a nice thick tone in return. I'm using a coated Powerstroke 3 over the Hazy Emperor, drum dial settings are 85 snare side, 85 batter, and I get the perfect amount of snare and tone out of the maple shell. I'm using Puresound Twisted snare wires, and the tighter reso eliminates sympathetic snare buzz. These upgrades have definitely changed the sound of my snare, and I'm in love. Don't be afraid to try this head.
