Revisiting this review to say it works perfectly now!I have it running on an 8V AC line and also still using an old-fashioned mechanical bell.The trickle-charge seems to be enough even on this minimal level.I expect some battery-anxiety in the winter when it remains sub-zero (Celsius) temperatures for longer periods, but I see that as a personal trait.The combination of keeping the legacy infrastructure of the doorbell, while making it smart without needing cloud services, and the possibility to connect it to Home Assistant, makes this the perfect doorbell for my situation.The backstory of me needing to revisit the review is due to the really good customer service of Reolink.After my initial review where I mentioned I was having problems with the battery depleting unexpectedly fast, they contacted me.In the mean-time the doorbell had even died. They pro-actively offered to send me a new device.That device is the one I am using after very helpful exchanges with the customer service.

Excellent, many settings to play with. Only thing to add would be the ability to record the couple of seconds before the doorbell is triggered by pir.

If you are looking for it to integrate with home assistant it works perfect. You do need the home base. Picture quality is great. Quality is good. Great field of view. If you want to tweak everything it can be done. 2 way talk works great.Bad: comparing from my Eufy duel cam doorbell.Detection seems to be a bit hit and missApp is a bit odd viewing events. It appears backwards to me.No picture notifications unless you pay for it.Battery life seems short. If wired this would not be an issue.But a great start just not for me.

Purchased this having used a EUFY battery doorbell before. I use this via Home Assistant and think it works so much better. The battery life might be a little shorter but everything else is better. Very pleased
