The Rhodia Webnotebook may be a bit more expensive than the Moleskine equivalent, but it is far superior in every conceivable way! First, the leatherette cover is butter soft & smooth to the touch, but the real magic happens when you open it. The 90gsm Clairefontaine Vellum paper is second to none. I write exclusively with fountain pens--I use medium point nibs in three brands, a Platinum #3776 (18k gold nib), a Pilot/Namiki Vanishing Point (18k gold nib), & a Sailor 1911 (14k gold nib)--and I almost exclusively use Pilot Iroshikizuku bottled ink, though I also use manufacturers brand cartridges from time to time.Having used both the Rhodia & the Moleskine, there is a vast difference in favor of the Rhodia. The ink simply imprints on the paper literally instantly, leaving clean, smudge-proof writing behind. The second you lift the pen, you can touch the ink without fear, even close the book without blotting or worrying about ink drying because it dried the second you lifted the pen. The paper is beautiful to touch, a wonderful tactile experience in itself. It's smooth, clean, and remarkably easy to write on. The pen glides effortlessly with very little pressure, if any, required (which is also partly the result of having a quality pen), and the ink it's set beautifully, with zero bleeding & zero color bleed over time, as can happen with inferior paper (& even some pretty good quality cotton papers). You will also have ZERO problem using both sides of the page, which would be a tragic waste with such incredible paper. With this paper, you don't have to worry about ink bleeding through to the other side or the print showing through from one side to the other.Basically, I've never wanted to write in a notebook more than I do this one. To use the Rhodia with this beautiful Clairefontaine Vellum is an experience, & if you're a writer or an artist it's an experience you'll want to repeat over & over at every opportunity. If you want to keep your art--ideas for your next book, your poetry, or your sketches--tucked safely in their own special notebook, I recommend buying two so that you can vent the urge to constantly set pen to this paper in the second notebook as some steam-of-consciousness experimentation or simply as a means to let the things normally rattling around your brain with no place to go out into the world--believe me, once you write in this book with your favorite pen you'll want to do it all day long every day. You'll have to pry yourself away just to continue having a life, at least if you're as fanatic about writing as I am! ☺I've written with many different instruments on many different kinds of paper, but I've truly never wanted to write more or as compulsively as I do with this notebook, nor have I enjoyed the simple experience of writing more than I do with this notebook. Perhaps I'm gushing because there is some novelty, as I've had the book only two weeks now, but I've already filled almost a quarter of the pages, which is something I've never done so quickly with ANY other notebook, & I own several Moleskine Classic notebooks as well as my share of the A5 Moleskine Cahier notebook. Some of those aren't even filled after months of owning them, but this Rhodia won't last half that time if I continue writing at this pace.If you're serious about writing it sketching with ink & a beautiful pen, do yourself a favor & put it all in a signature orange Rhodia. You won't be sorry you did, & it's you take my advice & buy a second, you'll probably thank me. ☺ Happy writing, drawing, doodling, or whatever it is you do. You won't find a finer quality notebook nor will you find a more beautiful paper anywhere of which I'm aware.

It's great that there are notebooks like these of exceptional quality that are available. This kind of thing is pretty rare.

*****I have kept journals for years in Moleskines and wanted to see what all the fuss about Rhodia journals was about. I was highly pleased with my decision to try one of these larger-sized orange Rhodia's.First of all, you should know that the cover is a solid color. The black stripe in the picture is the packaging. The cover seems like it is thicker and more like leather than a Moleskine (it may even be leather, and the Moleskine might be too, but it just seems finer). It is a tiny bit wider than the Moleskine, but only about half an inch, and it is exactly as tall. The Rhodia has a different kind of paper than the Moleskine. It very smooth, heavy, and a darker ivory than the Moleskine. It would react totally differently to ink than cheaper papers. The paper does not have any bleed-through or show-through, even with fountain pens. I really love that about the Rhodia. The ruling looks a bit larger than college-ruled (it is bigger than the Moleskine--fewer lines on a page) and on the right side on the bottom there is the Rhodia logo on every page. I'm not too crazy about that. In addition, the Rhodia logo is imprinted in the cover. That logo is everywhere! The Rhodia also has an envelope in the back just like the Moleskine. It has an orange ribbon that I don't like quite as well as the one on the Moleskine. It also doesn't open up to be as flat as the Moleskine when fully open, but this is because the paper is just so thick, so it's a little stiffer. Still, I need to say that it DOES lay flat; it's just that the Moleskine does it easily and has more "range of motion", if that makes sense. The Rhodia is much more expensive than the Moleskine.I think that I will use this Rhodia for fountain pen inks and for special journaling projects. As nice as it is (and it is nice), I just prefer my Moleskine--the thinner paper, the thinner lines, the easy opening to being flat. So I won't switch, but I'll still enjoy using this luxury journal and all of its fine features.Highly recommended.*****

Pages are so buttery smooth and are amazing for ny fountain oen inks especially! Holds up well. The colour is nicer than I had anticipated.
