The Roatee 991ms 401 function desktop calculator, well, it's a scientific calculator with a decent enough display that shows two lines, which is very handy for seeing what you've just punched in. You know, it's got all the usual stuff - basic calculations, fractions, degrees, minutes, seconds, that sort of thing. Then you've got the more advanced bits like complex numbers, matrix calculations, and integration. There's quite a lot it can do, to be fair. You've got your basic arithmetic, trigonometric functions, factorials, and then all the more complex stuff like vector calculations and differential calculations. It's got a solar panel, and a battery backup too. Seems pretty robust to me, with a sliding cover to keep the dust out. I've found it alright, you know, it is quite advanced! I've mainly been using it for quick calculations in the workshop, and it's been fine for that. It's handy not having to use my phone when my hands are covered in grease. The screen's clear enough, even if it's not as bright as it looks in the advert, more your usual LCD brightness. The buttons are plastic, not those rubbery ones, and they're responsive enough.What I really like is that the calculator uses several colours to label and organise its buttons and layout, which helps me to categorise and differentiate the various functions in an instant, and that makes it easier to use than some calculators. I like the design so much that I'll try and describe how it's laid out - will try not to bore but honestly I think it's worth highlighting:-Primary Keys:The standard numerical keys (0-9) are a light grey or white colour, which makes them stand out against the black body of the calculator. This makes them easily visible for basic calculations.The operational keys (+, -, ×, ÷) are also in the light grey, remaining consistent with the numeric keypad.Secondary Function Labels:Many buttons have secondary functions accessed by using the "shift" or "alpha" keys. These secondary functions are indicated by colours that contrast with the button's primary colour, primarily in Yellow and a pink/red colour. Such colour coding allows for quick identification of the secondary functions.Tertiary Functions:Some of the buttons have tertiary colours. The colouring is used to further divide the different levels of functions available on each button.As you can see, by arranging the calculator in this way, it helps with increased clarity, along with the ability to locate and utilise the different functions. This scientific calculator is good value at £10.99 (price correct at the time of writing this review) it is black in colour, comes in a branded box and has a removable protective coverThe calculator is compact and lightweight, doesn't take up much room, easy to use and has a button battery which can be replaced, but can also work by solar power too. I got this calculator for my husband to use at uni, and he's really pleased with it
