The plastic used to make these is of the same thickness as a document folder. They are a colossal pain to put together and I doubt they will hold up for very long. I would not recommend them for anything, especially not to store and STACK shoes. The only reason I am not returning them is that they are here and a friend helped me assemble them. Run fast and far from this garbage.
