James How (voormalig vioolstudent en later afgestudeerd ingenieur) maakte al vroeg snaren voor zijn eigen instrumenten en richtte in 1958 het bedrijf Rotosound op, dat al snel wereldwijde erkenning kreeg voor de productie van hoogwaardige snaren.

Muziekgrootheden als de Shadows, Beatles, Rolling Stones, het London Symphony Orchestra en het Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra behoorden tot de eerste Rotosound artiesten. Rotosound maakte ook snaren voor de gitaar-zeldzaamheid Vox Organ en de Burns Guitar Company.

De belangrijkste inspiratiebron was John Entwistle (The Who), die betrokken was bij de ontwikkeling van de SWING BASS Roundwound snaar.

British Steels

Het succes deed snel de ronde en trok als de "British Invasion" op magische wijze andere artiesten en bands aan, zoals Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd en Queen. Jaco Pastorius, The Edge, Oasis, Guthrie Govan, Billy Sheehan, Doug Wimbish en momenteel Michael Amott (Arch Enemy, Carcass) en Mikey Demus (Skindred) kenden en waarderen nog steeds de legendarische Rotosound sound.

Wat begon met snaren voor elektrische basgitaren, breidde zich uit met SWING, JAZZ en SOLO bassnaren, die al stonden voor kwaliteit van wereldklasse toen snaren van andere fabrikanten zich nog in de moeizame ontwikkelingsfase bevonden. Tegenwoordig omvat het assortiment van Rotosound meer dan 130 verschillende sets snaren: 57 elektrische basgitaren, 21 akoestische gitaren, 3 akoestische basgitaren, 4 klassieke gitaren, 31 elektrische gitaren en 14 verschillende sets voor traditionele instrumenten.

Great set of double bass strings.As a gigging musician in a couple of rockabilly bands, I have found these to be dead reliable and good sounding. I play slap and pizzicato and these strings feel great and have the correct tension for my style.

Prodotto ottimo.....finalmente ho trovato le corde giuste per me!ottime sia per lo slap che per il pizzicato.....la scelta perfetta per chi suona rockabilly o rock’n’roll... ne ho già comprate 2 mute.....e ne comprerò ancora per il mio prossimo contrabbasso che mi arriverà tra qualche giorno!L’unico tasto negativo è che non sono adatte a chi utilizza pickups magnetici....peccato.Comunque do un bel 10 anche perché da questo acquirente costano circa 100€ in meno dei normali rivenditori

I received these and immediately became suspicious as the factory packaging had previously been opened then resealed with packing tape. After opening, I discovered that the winding on the D string was loose/broken, making the string useless. I believe I was sold a previously returned set of strings.The original set mentioned above was returned and Amazon sent me a replacement set. At first I was pleased. Loved the playability and sound but then, after about a month the windings on the A string started to separate. Contacted Rotosound and was told I’d have to go through the retailer. Amazon promised me a full refund with product return, which I did, only to be hit with a $43.00 ‘restocking fee’. So, what are they going to do, restock defective strings and sell them to someone else? These strings are supposed to have a one year warranty against defects, so from my perspective, charging me a fee from my refund is nothing short of theft. Amazon should be ashamed.

Love them! I play 20's to 40's wing music: the sound of these strings matches perfectly that style. (Most of the time a mix between slap and walking bass.) Very stable tuning, low tension, soft feeling at fingers.By setting the strings high I can have a very "physical" feeling (opposite of a guitar bass feeling) without getting tired or injured.
