These pastels are pricey but they are really nice. I got them because the color range is really good. Every color you would need. The gradients are perfect for blending. I also really like the wood box they come in. It is a beautiful dove tailed wood case with sturdy latch hinges to keep the top secure and it is padded with individual foam slots to protect each pastel. There are two trays that nest on top of each other perfectly and do not shift. There are ribbon tabs for handles to lift the top tray out easily. It is a lovely set. I like that I can purchase replacement pastels individually open stock at art websites like Dick Blick. The pastels are a medium-soft consistentcy. They are soft to blend but do not crumble. The edges are good for detail drawing but they can also blend out good to create soft looks too. If you take good care of it this set will last you a long time. It is a good investment... I really love this set😊

Rembrandt pastels are beautiful to use and I spent the extra compared to another Rembrandt pastels offer that was in a cardboard box thinking this one would have a sturdier box. The box these came in is the same as the cardboard box.I haven't returned it but want to warn people about the false advertising of this being a wooden box when it's cardboard.
