Easy to use. Nicely packaged.Works exactly as advertised: point it vaguely in the right direction, tune in what you're looking for (e.g, Inmarsat ACARS/PSMC), peak the aiming, check out the signals.

Found GPS instantly and captured Iridium packets from a small urban garden surrounded by houses, when 2foot off the ground.More expensive than the wee GPS patch antennas, but also clearly better.

Covers all the L band satellites, instead of having to have two receivers to do the same. I have both, this one works just fine for both L bands. The holder leaves a lot to be desired, so I use a camera tripod. Patch antenna and pre-amplifiers in one box. NOTE does NOT cover the weather satellite as this requires a different antenna design.

Great for powerful Satellites like Inmarsat. I have two and they work well, simple and easy to hide. Has remote amp inside. Just cover the seal with silicone.

With either Sparkfun or Ardusimple dual-band antennas, I can get the Inmarsat L-band signal, but with this one, it's about 3 to 6 dB stronger, when aimed at the satellite. So, thumbs up!
