Overall, this thing does exactly what the advertisement says it will do. I have, however, one important piece of advice for anyone who buys this unit - the very first thing you need to read in the manual is how to disable the background illumination. When you start programming the unit, the factory default setting is such that the background light is ON. The manufacturer should change this to the OFF position, and here is the reason: the unit is powered by one CR2032 lithium button cell. Nothing wrong with that, but this type of cell is not intended for relatively large current drains (on the order of several mA) posed by the background light. This will result in rapid drainage of the battery, and by the time you are done with all the programming while the light is on, the battery will be completely exhausted. In my case, the battery dropped from 3 bars when I started to program down to one bar when I was done. If you turn off the light at the very beginning, you will preserve 99.9% of the battery energy you would otherwise use with the light on. Even with the light off, the display is still perfectly legible, just use a good desk lamp or some other source of light. Also, keep in mind that when you remove the battery, all the programming you have done will be lost, and you will need to start all over again, which is another whine I have regarding this unit. Have fun playing with this thing!

Works as advertised,saw a video about looping the wire around a battery clamp and it is alot easier then wrapping it around the sparkplug wire. Like how it shows the max revs also the backlight makes it easy to see the display.

The tach worked well, but if your using in a moist environment then look elsewhere. Mine got moisture in it and went bad in only a couple months.

Cons; moisture gets under the lens and it doesn't shut itself off.Pros; it reads good in all weather and never fails to turn itself on. Not much of a battle to install.
