I use the bells on my shoes and with my rain boots, depending on weather, for morning and late afternoon hikes in rural wooded areas with my dog.Before the bells, I had seen three bears. Since the bells, no bears! The sound is quite pleasant and comforting to me and must be just enough to warn the bears we are coming....hopefully not dinner bells...!🥴

We trail ride horses and there is always an adventure with wildlife, but this bell gives us peace of mind in those moments we are not chatting or laughing enough for animals to hear us coming up the trail. It has taken me a long time to get a bear bell because I was afraid the noise would become annoying, but honestly you hardly know its there and it is almost like a caravan of gypsies walking through the wilderness and the sound is not offensive at all to us. Two of us have this bell, and I never hear the other rider's, only mine- and I have other brass bells attached along with it and there's a sweet musical chime to them all. So far it has worked- there have been no surprised bears, no spooked boars and the deer are rarely hidden as they perk up and listen to who's coming with these bells on. It's totally worth the price and it is a very nicely made little gadget.

My girlfriend and I just returned from a trip to Alaska where we used these bear bells. I purchased the 4-pack in different colors. These bells work very well. They are loud and can be easily strapped onto your coat, belt loop, pack, or just about anywhere else you can think of. It might take some experimenting to figure out where your natural body movements cause the loudest jingle (for me, it was hanging one on the bottom of my coat). My favorite feature on these is the little magnetic strap that can be easily used to silence the bells. The strap has a small magnet knitted into it, you just have to align the magnet directly with the metal ball in the bell and it sticks to it, preventing all sound. I liked silencing my bells when we were around other people on the trail, and letting them ring when we were more isolated. My only complaint is that on one of the bells, the knitting for the magnet unraveled so if I had kept using it I might have lost the magnet. This wasn't a big deal for me because I noticed before the magnet fell off and we had the extra bells available. I was able to easily knit it back shut when we got home. I would recommend buying one or two extra bells though for this reason. Overall I would highly recommend these!

I hang it on my walking stick. Doesn't make a jingle bell sound, more of a click-clack sound. I'm fine creating any noise to alert animals I'm in the area though!

Well...I have a first hand review of these things working. We were in the smokey mountain national park on a hiking trail and saw a bear about 30 feet away from us and it heard/saw us but was not bothered in the least. The bell did exactly what it was meant to do--alert the bear from a distance that we were there so it wouldn't be started and attack. The bear peacefully grazed while we (me, my husband and two small children--and dog!) walked by on the hiking trail. Get the bell for peace of mind!!
