Each takes one AA battery and is not much larger than the battery itself. It's perfect for lighting up keyholes, the sensor works well. It won't light up much more than keyholes, though, as the light brightness is not very high. But that also should mean longer spans between the need to charge.Can be attached either with a two-sided sticky tape, or screws. Outdoors it's better to use screws, as the rain might cause the tape to lose adhesion.

These lights are great. They initially fit my specific need of lighting a keyhole, which has now expanded to lighting a lightswitch that normally sits in the dark, lighting a toolrack that is not near any other light. As well as what you're thinking they're good for, they're really great for lighting places where you actually have to enter the (dark) area to find the light switch. The motion detector works very well, and the light is bright. I have had no issues with the winter cold affecting the batteries --- the lights work reliably. If you have metal doors, mount some strong magnets in the back panel (cover with tape) and you have a great, non-marring light. On top of all that, the ambient light sensor works quite well so you're not wasting batteries in daylight. Friend saw them and I ordered for them. UPDATE: Have now bought four pairs, they really are fantastic. I forgot to mention, I know there are other units which have settings for ambient light sensitivity, length of light on, gap between activations ---- those are all great in their own right but come at a cost. The units here are quick and simple, do a great job without any customization, and really affordable. Their pre-settings are just fine for most cases. And no, I am not affiliated in anyway with the manufacturer, seller or Amazon, just a very happy customer.
