This is a solid little rod at a great price point. It packs down nice and small and will probably live in the car boot for impromptu sessions. It feels pretty sturdy though the reel is a bit “plasticky” but for this money you really can’t grumble. Casts well but I don’t think I’d want to load it up with much more than about 30g.

I was a bit sceptical at the price, but having bought a 10ft mackerel combo, and was pleased with it, I thought I’d give it a try. So, it looks good and has a nice action. Rod and reel. Casts well, I’ve been using lures up to 30grams. Wouldn’t want anything heavier. The build quality would be hard to match to be honest. It’s sturdy and lightweight. Packs away nicely (hand folds easily. I’ve been catching decent mackerel on it and it feels good under pressure. Nothing bigger than a lb or so yet, but I’m confident it will be fine. Only downside is that the retainer isn’t the right size to hold the rod folded, but with line and lure left on and hooked onto the reel it keeps it in place.
