I very rarely write reviews, but always read them, and sadly you never know what is is legit, so I felt it was worthy enough of my time to share my thoughts. I did a lot of research before making this purchase and I must say, I liked the first one enough to buy a second, just 2 weeks later.These tall gates are well made and sturdy for my purposes, which is just to keep some cats separated, from another room (gate on right) and from my recent foster cat momma and her kitten. As much as I love sleeping with my kitty, she is a big ol’ bully when feeding time comes around. Her bedroom privileges have been revoked!I specifically chose this tall gate for maximum security. I also needed to fit a 33-34” frame, & included are extra bars to accommodate different widths. This step took a bit of trial/error, but assembly was still a breeze. The gate looks great, too.I knocked a star because the latch is too snug, & the metal will knick my hands if not careful.

Came without directions!!Is great and works amazing but yeah… it took me an entire hour to set this up because I had to come to the review section to figure out how it goes together.Would be 5 star if came with directions.

Seems like a decent item. Unfortunately, it didn't fit my door. I couldn't get a fully secure fit in one top corner. I have an old house, so perhaps my doorway isn't fully even. I think it would have helped if the top was constructed more like the bottom, making it more rigid, along with an additional/optional set of tightening screws in the middle. Due to the top being less rigid than the bottom, it needed a tighter fit, and therefore more screw length. The screw wasn't long enough to do this effectively, and I did not have enough space to add one of the extra pieces. If my doorway was slightly bigger or smaller, it might have worked out. I was happy with the look, strength and height of the item. I just couldn't get it quite secure enough for my door. (I also didn't get it until later than expected due to a mishap, but that was entirely down to Amazon, not the manufacturer or seller. Refunds and returns were quick and simple though).

I have bought other gates in an effort to keep my cat from escaping through a dog door. I had bought a previous tall gate that was about 10” shorter and had a different latching mechanism. I decided to buy this one because the latch looked easier and I would not have to buy an extension. There are a few disappointing aspects to this gate:1) The box was damaged resulting in the latching mechanism being bent on one side and the hinge being bent. Not entirely their fault but it could have been packaged better and the hinge steel is just not robust for even daily use, much less shipping in an inadequate box.2) The latching mechanism is extremely difficult to use if you latch it on the opposite side( difficult to unlatch if you are on the opposite side from where you latched it). So if you think you might not equally exit and enter from the same side, probably can get a better gate.3) The overall gauge of the steel is probably ok for most of the gate, but parts that will be frequently used should be thicker or better designed (latch, hinge, where the bolts/washers push against the wall).4) For the price point it was not as good as the other gate I bought (even with having to buy a height extension). Plus my other gate was better quality.If it was not as difficult to return such a bulky item and if I did not need it right away, I would have returned it. Do not make my same mistake.
