Silverline Heavy Duty Tegel Cutter 600mm (510189)

I ordered this tile cutter because it was slightly more expensive than the competition and so I thought it would be better. I was wrong! The machine broke after it had cut 4 tiles. I am sending it back. 5 stars to Amazon for easy return process - 0 stars to this product.

I was wary about buying this after reading the negative reviews but went ahead as I only had 20sqm of tiles and didn't want a big outlay. My first impression was that it was much bigger and more solid than I thought. I managed every cut perfectly and I was cutting 600x300mm Wickes porcelain tiles lengthwise, sometimes only taking 10mm or so off.I think the people that left bad reviews aren't using it properly. Put one end up against the wall so the handle is pointing towards you and pull the handle back before you insert the tile. Then smoothly push the cutting wheel towards the wall over the tile pressing firmly but not too hard. The important thing is to get a continuous line and you are not trying to create a massive deep score across the tile: that will make it hard to push and you could bend the guide bars like people have said.Once you reach the end, the T-shaped snapping head easily flips into position. Position it on the far end of the tile (not in the middle because it will bend the bars). Once on the surface of the tile, push down quickly with a sudden jolt movement. It should snap cleanly. If not, turn the tile around and do the other end.

impossible de couper correctement un carreau; le support n'est pas d'equerre avec le taquet de buttée, donc la première coupe etait en biais.je me suis dis qu'en prenant un repere a chaque bout du carreau, j'arriverais à faire une bonne coupe; et bien pas plusaprés avoir fait une rayure à peu près correcte, impossible de casser le carreau. la barre de coulisse se tord et on ne peut pas faire de force avec le brasNULLISSIME . A FUIR

Muy recomendable si lo que quieres cortar mantequilla. Si lo quieres para cortar azulejos,busca otra cosa. En mi caso, en cuanto le obligué un poco, se empezaron a desarmar las piezas. Total, que para acabar de embaldosar un trastero de poco más de 3 m² tuve que cortar los azulejos con los alicates.El cacharro no sirve ni como chatarra... Ya se dice que lo barato es caro ...

This was the cheapest 600mm cutter available. It scores tiles easily but struggles to break large thick porcelain floor tiles. My project was small so not too much of a problem bearing in mind the price.
