SMALLRIG Mini Shock Absorber Arm 5123 is a vehicle-mounted shock absorber arm designed for DJI Osmo Pocket 3. It also supports conversion interfaces to connect to action cameras such as for GoPro HERO13 Black and for Insta360 X4. The shock absorber arm has a built-in high-rebound spring + hydraulic damping structure, which can greatly reduce the vertical jitter caused by vehicle-mounted shooting, thereby providing a more stable and reliable picture. The shock absorber arm has a built-in damping adjustment knob to adapt to different bumpy roads, without fear of complex shooting scenes. The shock absorber arm is equipped with a 4-inch hand pump vacuum suction cup, which supports the installation of equipment within 600g for shooting, covering most mainstream action camera models; at the same time, the suction cup comes with a dust cover, which can effectively prevent dust and scratches and extend the service life. The shock absorber arm is equipped with a hard storage bag for special storage, worry-free travel.

Compared to the budget alternatives, this one is miles ahead. There’s very little side wobble. It doesn’t have any sideways dampening so it accomplishes that with really tight tolerances in the aluminum arms. It holds a firm grip on the osmo, using a nut instead of a latch. It’s all metal, very sturdy and secure. The dampening range is great, you get a huge range of motion to account for the big bumps. I haven’t used it off road, but for the street I tried really hard to get it to top out or bottom out, and it got close but never hit. The video result was very smooth with minimal post processing for stabilization. You could get away with just using the raw video if you wanted to. The suction cup is nothing to write home about. It does the job, feels secure, but if it wasn’t great when I got it, I have other suction cups and mounting options I could have used. Good thing is the cup that’s provided is really good. Usually I test them by just leaving them on my car for a day or two, and if they don’t fall off I think it’s probably safe. Always tether your mounts though so you’re not relying on a single point of failure.

I was shocked at how nice this mount is! The box was certainly heavier than expected, and the build quality is remarkable.The build materials feel nice, and the finish is just impeccable. It really is a sturdy mount that feels like it will last quite a long time.The suction cup is strong, providing a secure mount (not much to worry about in terms of chasing it down the street), and the shock absorption mechanism design seems well thought-out. Everything seems to move smoothly, and I'm exited to get this out on the track soon to test it fully.With a wide range of compatibility for action cameras (DJI and GoPro, most notably, as well as Insta360), it offers plenty of user options for a number of different models.It's right around 1.5lbs, so it's not featherweight, but it's not terribly hefty, either. I plan to use it on more horizontal surfaces (hood, roof and deck lid), but will try it on vertical surfaces a s well, and will update as we go.Again, a VERY impressive, well-designed (and constructed) mount with a wide variety of use options. Couldn't be more impressed with this right out of the box!

This is effective vertical vibration dampener. When I first opened the kit, I was surprised that it didn’t come with the manual. I was looking at parts and was at a loss to assemble the unit. I looked up the manual from the website but it’s pretty much useless. The video is more helpful in assembling the kit. Kit comes with two arms, osmo mount, ¼ inch mount plate, 100g counterweight and suction cup base with cover nicely packed in a case.I wanted to use this for action camera so I switched out the osmo 3 mount for ¼ inch thread plate. I mounted the counterweight on the bottom to give it some more heft. Using my Viran V11, which is poor IS, I wanted to see how well this would work. I didn’t know how to adjust the dampener, as it doesn’t show which direction makes it stiffer or looser so I put it somewhere in between. As a test, I put it on my car’s hood and went for a short drive and boy, was I impressed.I wish there was better documentation of what how to adjust the spring but with trial and error, you can fine tune it for your camera. It makes the vertical axis pretty stable and even when there’s a movement, it smooths it out. Overall, excellent tool to have when attaching the camera to a vehicle. Recommended.

SmallRig produces good stuff an this is no exception. Opening the box you are presented with a quality case that as soon as you open you become impressed by the laser cut foam for each piece. Assembling the item takes a second, but this isn't something to just be throwing together for a couple minutes of use, this is a quality piece to be used for capturing quality imaging, so expect to set up your gear right. Great suction and adjustability from this rig!

This is an exceptionally high-quality car mount, suitable for use with the Pocket 3 or an action camera. My biggest gripe with most car mounts is the vibration and occasional jolt from bumps in the road. SmallRig has addressed this issue with an adjustable shock absorber. The suction is very good, and I appreciate the white band indicating that it has an adequate grip. A counterweight is included for lighter cameras, along with a quality case.
