Device is nice looking, but performance is subpar.One thing the power output ratings are false! I have a battery operated DAC with about 600mW per channel max. It is ten times more powerful than the SMSL. Some say the 500mW quoted power is for both channels added, meaning it is really 250mW+250mW - no way Jose!Discounting the false info on power output (yes I did use the balanced-out), the sound is grainy and harsh, and it clips very easily.Was mine a faulty one? possible.I sent it back quickly, within half an hour.

Acquistato per la seconda volta perchè il primo mi dava qualche problema. Da qui va da se quanto sia soddisfatto del prodotto.Suono magnifico, cristallino, definito con ottimo palcoscenico. Suona molto bene con qualsiasi tipo di musica. Molto potente e con volume hardware il che ti permette di andare in bit perfect con volume hardware beneficiando ulteriormente della qualità.Con le IEM è uno spettacolo e può mettere in crisi anche sistemi over hear amplificati desktop.Altamente consigliato.

Sorry for the long writeup but it is worth itTL;DR This is a very good-sounding DAC and amp combination that was plug-and-play on Windows and on android. it sounded good on headphones from budget to expensive high end planar headphones.I've been an audiophile for 40+ years. So I've heard a lot of equipment, and have quite a bit co compare things against.i know that how a piece of Aucio gear sounds is somewhat subjective, and for me, the quality I look for in an amp and is to sound neutral and not mess with the original sound.This Dac sounded as good as any dac I own on my headphones. i tried this on budget and expensive dynamic headphones, both closed and open back, and also on high end planar headphones.what ti observed is that it did very well driving difficult loads that some headphone amps struggle with.The sound of the dac / amp combo is very neutal / flat. although if you have a headphone with a lot of symbalance then this amp/dac well make that a bit more glaring. it is not very forgiving in that respect.the soundstage was neutral, as it did not exaggerate the soundstage nor did it complaps it or make it fuzzy. the soundstage is as I expected it to be on the recordings I listened to.i did appreciate the volume control,l built onto the device. on some materials, if the volume on the device was at 100 percent, I found that I did not like the sound as much, but a step or two lower then full volume on the unit was good, I did all my test at that setting and used the windows volume controls for the level setting. for the most part.drums had good impact, and I found the base extension to be extremely good. and the highs to be very crisp and clear.this is a good all around headphone DAC and amp and with its DSD256 32Bit/384kHz capabilities, I cant see wanting for anything more int he future, so this is pretty future-proof.it is usbC but if you needed usbA you could use a C to A cable.It is also very stylish, I llvoe that they used clear windows on the case so you can see the circuitry insideI mostly use this on my windows laptop, but, I also used it on my android phone and there was no difference in the performance, it was just as goodI did notice it has 4.4mm jack for using balanced headphones, though I did not teast the balanced outputthe conclusion is that this is a good all-around amp/dac that can even drive more difficult-to-drive headphones.
