I have read reviews before ordering this one.We purposely choose the one with the plastic boxes since the ones with more planks has lesser reviews.After putting this one together - which was a breeze - I can understand were the criticism is coming from and that more planks could indeed be an issue.I have put it together by myself but since you first connect everything to one side, and then put the other side on top, flipping and holding things is easier to do with 2 persons.The main body of the closet is made of a solid material which seems like densely compressed wood pulp. It's really solid. You can dance on it. It won't dent.The shelves on which the books rest are made of cardboard material, similar to the bottom of clothes drawers. For us that's no issue but it's not the thickest and will most likely over time bend if you plan to store the entire Larousse. However, it is more than strong enough for normal children book, and books also rest against the wooden planks so the surface area for books is smaller than in a normal book case.The pictures on the sides are rudimentary but nice. The screws are uncapped, so visible when you have put the whole thing together. But then again, that's what you expect at this price. The same goes for the plastic boxes which are sufficient for use.All in all we find that it meets our requirements. Toys are no longer on the floor but easy to grab. Books the same. And it suits a children's room.

It was broken while installing..very poor wood quality

This bookshelf has exceeded all of my expectations. I have two very busy toddlers and I was in desperate need for a bookshelf/toy storage where everything is visible for them to easily pick out! This shelf is amazing, it looks beautiful and it's honestly the perfect size. It's so very sturdy! My 3 year old climbed all over it and the bookshelf did not budge! The plastic containers are very thick and sturdy and shockingly very deep! There are three rows for books and 6 baskets. The drawings on the bookshelf are simply stunning, vivid and perfectly detailed. The bookshelf was also very easy to assemble. It took me about 30 minutes to put it together by myself and everything you need comes with - including a screwdriver key! I am considering getting at least one more of those bookshelves due to how shockingly amazing it is!
