Hello,I did a lot of testing with my Sony A7IV and Sony 200-600 mm and couldn't find quality loss.There is not a lot of difference in mm going from 600 to 840 mm. But if you are like me and shoot little birds in the distance and crop your photo's afterwards, it is useful.Because if you crop a lot without the 1.4 you get a smaller image in px/cm.With the 1.4 you are already a bit closer, so you don't have to crop thát much and keep more px/cm. And so you can print larger images.I shot a buzzard some time a go, on a gray rainy day with f9.0 and different iso's and with a bit of noise reduction, the images look fine for me.I had 30 days to return it, but could not find a reason. So I kept it.

Not worth buying for Sony 200-600

Does what it should, nothing more, nothing less. I have used it with a Sony SEL200-600 lens on a A7iii camera. It thus extends the 600mm to 840mm, giving me the extra reach sometimes required. As a trade-off, I loose a bit of image quality and the maximum aperture of F6.3 at 600mm becomes F9 (at 840mm). Autofocus works almost as fast when dealing with normal and high brightness situations and becomes gradually worse the darker it gets, up to the point where it becomes very difficult to use when shooting for example in a dense forest on a heavily clouded morning.All the downsides are as expected for a teleconverter and are well balanced by the pros of using one. The product performs as expected, without any negative or positive surprises.I recommend this product to anybody who needs one.However, if you never used a teleconverter before, it is good to first inform yourself of what the pros and cons are, so you know what to expect from one.

I paid £379 after tracking the price for a while to pair with my 100-400GM and 200-600G lens. Note that there's relatively few compatible lens so check before buying.I found that there's no discenrable impact on lens AF etc. or softening of the image on my Sony A7R V with either of the two lens. Having the 840mm reach is helpful for wildlife or images of moon and the 1.4 adds versatility to the 100-400 with minimal extra weight.All in all it it still expensive but optics are top quality.

Great Sony teleconverter. I use it for wildlife and bird photography all the time.
