Speer & Jackson
Spear & Jackson verkoopt sinds 1760 hand-, tuin-, aannemers, landbouw- en landschapsgereedschap.
Het bedrijf werd opgericht in de stad Sheffield, die bekend staat om de productie van staal, bestek en handgereedschap en is meer dan 250 jaar later ons thuis.
De Heritage Range

It looks a little different than the picture -- mostly the label. It's solid, well-made and nicely crafted with substantial metal tines and a sturdy, durable ash handle. It doesn't actually say "Made in England", but it doesn't look like a Chinese product. It does have one notable short-coming, especially as compared to my 25 years old, full-size English garden fork. The problem is that the tines on the new fork are too blunt, making it a bit hard to push into the earth, or to say spear a chunk of turf that one has dug up. On my old fork the tines were curved, tapered and ground to a point on all four sides. This one's tines are curved but not tapered and they are ground to a point only on two sides, leaving them pretty blunt. I plan to keep the fork and to grind better points on the tines with the bench grinder, and after that it should work very well. If you don't have a bench grinder, a file can be used to give them a better point, although the first layer removed will be the tough paint. Aside from the tine points, it seems like a very high quality product !

As we speak, I am out in the garden using this nifty digging tools on heavy clay soil preparing to plant bulbs, and so needing to amend the soil so that the bulbs can poke through in Spring. A delight to use, well built, I am very happy to have purchased this tool recently. I am replacing a similar tool which was made in England and was of excellent quality and used for many years before I lost it in a fire. This tool seems comparable, but we'll see. Handles well. I recommend it for a border or any other restricted place in your garden where you do not need a large fork.

I had my first garden fork for near to 16 years and it lived through some serious use. This is a second fork and there was no doubt that I would purchase from the same folk. Love it.
