Bought for my husband. We must have lucked out as others saying it's as sharp as a brick. Hubby says it's his new favourite axe. Very well made and so sharp you could shave with it straight out of the box. It is lightweight but just heavy enough to split those bigger and/or harder timbers. The length is perfect for him and the handle is nice and comfortable to use for long periods of time. Worth every penny spent on it and more. There are a lot of far lesser quality axes on the market selling for more than double the price out there so we would definitely recommend this as one of the good ones.

It's sharp, a good size and weight (2kg head) and does the job. The handle is made of hickory which is strong, flexible and apparently the best material for axe handles. The grain runs parallel to the handle and appears to be free of knots. The end of the handle is painted red, which makes it easier to find in the shed or when you put it down somewhere in the garden. There were a few chips in the handle but I've noticed this on similar tools at hardware stores and probably not a big deal after its been used a few times, otherwise it was in packaging and clearly brand new. So far I've used it to remove tree stumps which I was struggling to do with the mattock. With this axe I could cut through roots of up to about 100mm, though there's really no limit other than time and effort. So far so good.
