Today my pc crashed several times after I installed Windows on this SSD 6 weeks ago. The logs told me that files were corrupted. I did an online repair by terminal command. After it succeeded I cloned the Adata to my previous SSD. I will not use it again for running Windows. I'll keep it as storage. And now after using it for like 5 weeks as USB storage my computer starts crashing when I work on a file on the storage. No good.

my old drive was on its last legs so I gave this a go. Got it installed and windows installed in under 30 minutes. Really easy. Should have ordered one with more capacity as its nearly full already!

I bought this SSD (which arrived as a HIKVISION brand, rather than an Adata brand) on the 31st of August to use it as a boot drive for a PC I barely ever used. 3 weeks in, the PC became very slow and eventually I started getting Read Write errors until the PC could no longer boot (28th of September). I already surpassed my return window 2 weeks ago. Money gone down the drain.

So first thing’s first, this is a cheap SSD. It’s just a step above an old mechanical HDD, and does not have a cache. That limits its read/write speed quite a good amount. However, for my (somewhat niche) needs, it’s just what I needed. I’m using this SSD as the OS boot drive for my budget TrueNAS server, and it’s been chugging along without any SMART errors or mysterious slowdowns. If you’re trying to save money, it’s a good option. If you want something blazingly fast, get an SSD that has a cache.
