This is a extremely sturdy, metal spiral ground holder for poles, garden umbrellas, parasols etc. The metal is about 2mm thick around the top of the holder and the whole thing coated in a smooth black protective finish. The measurements are as stated in the listing, at 17 inches tall, with 9 inches of thread and internal maximum diameter 2 inches - (that is about 43.2 cm tall, 23 cm threaded bit, and the holder section has a maximum diameter of 5.1cm using my old measuring tape). The metal bar, to wind the holder in, is 16 inches long, (about 40.8cm) and is also coated in a black finish. It came with 4 screws, 3 are used to tighten onto a pole, once it is inserted into the holder, to hold it firmly in place. So an extra screw is in the pack. There is also an Allen, or hex, key provided to use to tighten the screws. The holder weighs 580g. It is a solid metal and feels quite strong. It was easy to wind into our lawn, using the bar provided, and held a solid 5cm diameter wooden pole firmly. The spike is quite sharp so cuts into the soil well, keeping it straight as it does this is the challenge. It certainly would hold up our wooden parasol umbrella. The weight the holder is able to hold in place is obviously dependant on how solid the ground that it is fixed into is.I am very pleased with this as I can use it to put up the garden parasol where ever I want in the garden, and can move the position of the holder as it is easy to wind out of the ground too. It also held a smaller 3cm diameter aluminium pole, by tightening the screws on to the pole once it was inserted, much like the Christmas tree holders you get.A useful item to have for the garden.

The holders are better than I'd expected. They are strong and well designed. I'm not sure they'd stay put if used in the sand on a windy day, but they certainly do a fantastic job when screwed down into our lawn to hold a small parasol in place, giving some shade for the children to sit under.
