There are a lot of options when it comes to sound cards with SPDIF optical output but this is the most affordable option from a well-known brand that has input too. It replaces a failed Sound Blaster card and comes with all the ins and outs it has plus separate line in and microphone jacks.It uses the C-Media CM8828 audio processor which Windows 10 automatically installs the built-in generic HD Audio driver for. A definite improvement compared to the dated and buggy Creative driver required by the old card.

en la pagina del producto en amazon los detalles del producto estan incompletos y me fui a la pagina web del fabricante y alli dice compatible con windows 10 peeero al probar el producto no es compatible con windows 10, aparte el fabricante dice que hay que descargar los ultimos drivers (controladores) los descargue pero otra sorpresa mala, al abrir el paquete zip dentro no hay driver para windows 10 solo hay de windows xp hasta windows 8, lo bueno fue el servicio de atencion por la devolucion me dieron informacion clara y la persona que me atendio fue cortez. hoy fui a llevarlo a DHL, el proceso aun no termina espero que todo salga bien.

I bought this to provide an optical output to an external amplifier, having wasted ages trying to get my good quality but old card to run on Win10. I was unsure about this card, having never heard of Star Tech and having seen mixed reviews. However I was put off cheaper SoundBlaster and ASUS cards having read about compatibility issues.This card was a doddle: unpack, plug in switch on...and it works! It provided me with S/PDIF output without needing any drivers, so I've not had to mess about with software.I've not tested (or even fitted) the analogue outputs so cannot vouch for the quality of those.

Worked straight away. Easy to install. Can allow sound to use multiple settings. For example using just speakers through tv or using surround sound through reciever.
