then it crashes and it slows down the machine to much to be worth the hassle. I've abandoned it and gone back to simply 1 extra monitor. MacBook Air M2, 2022

This was my fault my laptop doesnt support Thunderbolt and i bought the thunderbolt version, i do recommend buying the usb c version if you dont have thunderbolt make sure to check because it wont work otherwise!!

Ho collegato un Macbook Pro 16" 2021 M1 Pro allo schermo esterno Dell UP2715K: il video funziona bene ad una risoluzione di 5K. L'audio invece non viene passato.Ho contattato l'assistenza di Startech.com e mi hanno confermato che è un problema noto e che non ci sono soluzioni: con windows (a detta loro) funziona, con questi nuovi mac no.Come alternativa mi hanno consigliato il modello TB32DP14 che dovrebbe risolvere il problema ma che comunque non è stato testato (mah...).Un prodotto di 100 e passa euro che non viene neanche testato: no comment.Le due stelle perché per il video non ci sono problemi ma se nelle specifiche scrivi Audio 7.1 mi aspetto che almeno in modalità base funzioni.Deluso.

Thunderbolt honestly seems like a bit of a mess. I had to update the thunderbolt firmware of my gigabyte motherboard (not to be confused with the driver, or the bios) before it would be properly recognised. Even so I can’t seem to figure out how to update to the latest thunderbolt control software which is supposed to be better integrated with windows 10 but fails to install. It works with the legacy software however.That said, this hub is well built and useful for taking what was an under-utilised port and making it into something useful. The power brick is beefy and looks up to the task of delivering 65W. The box contains a set of C5 (cloverleaf) cables so no matter what country you’re in you should be covered. The included thunderbolt 3 cable is very short unfortunately. The front port will charge without the host being turned on, and I don’t have any issues with excessive heat that was mentioned in another review.The mix of ports seems to have been chosen to try to keep guaranteed independent bandwidth, however you will need to check the documentation as there are a few gotchas. But if you want to take the 40Gbit/s of thunderbolt 3 and turn it into a bunch of high speed USB ports and also deliver a decent amount of power for charging... this is it.If Corning ever release their long run optical thunderbolt 3 cables I may seriously look at hiding my desktop in a closet and using a single cable to this hub as the only connection.
