I love this product. I am a very tech-y person so I feel like a COMPLETE idiot for missing this. But, you do have to plug your power supply into the adapter in order for it to charge. I figured it was pulling power from the monitor but no, it needs to pull power from your laptops power adapter. There's a USB-C port on the adapter. I saw the port and looked for instructions in the box, or a diagram, or a label. I assumed it was a USB port like android's use and that my box was missing a cable that I'd plug in here.I ended up on the company's live chat and realized I just needed to use my USB-C laptop power supply and plug it in.Once that was done, everything was great and I have an amazing home set up for work! WOOHOO! Thank you!!

Perfect. Works like a charm with my HP Elite x2 1012. All USB-C dongles like this should have power pass-through.Wish that there was a combined VGA-HDMI version, but in the mean time, will use both this one and the HDMI version separately.

The USB3 connection to my MBPPro 15.4late 18 edition was not smooth and making a good connection requires seating and reseting the connection. I use this adaptor to allow my desktop monitor connection in my office and each time I 'go on the road' connecting it back up takes effort.Today when connecting it back up, I got no power to the laptop at all and didn't notice it till the batter was all the way down (I have the power connection into the USB3 not he adaptor to free up ports, as designed....).
