Excellent pull...easy to understand and use and can pull heavy and huge pieces of wood effortlessly

I had a large log I needed to get across a stream as part of a bridge I’m making, and it was just too heavy to move alone. I had seen the portable, gas-powered capstan winches, but they were a little too pricey for a single job.Then I found this thing.Brand name I’ve never heard of before. Proprietary battery system. A whiff of “Powerfist” or similar deep-discount tools. More than enough reason to be deeply suspicious.And yet, there’s no DeWalt or similar brand-name alternative, and that log ain’t gonna move itself, so I held my nose and took the plunge.Decently packaged. Rope looks OK. Sling is a little light, but not unreasonable. Overall fit and finish of the unit is better than expected. Manual is the expected poorly-translated Chinese, but simple enough.At 2Ah, battery seems a touch light, so I charged it overnight to make sure it had a full charge on it.The job required me to pull the log back 10’ (to clear a stump) then 30’ forward to cross the stream. And I’ll be damned if it didn’t do it like a champ. Clove hitch on the log, 4 wraps around the capstan, and it made both pulls with no trouble at all. It is simple to regulate the pull with tension on the free end of the rope.End state: log in place, no crushed toes, winch still fully operational (if down to a single light on the charge meter).I don’t think this is professional forestry duty-cycle, and for sustained use it needs a bigger (or more) batteries. But for those one-off pull jobs, it works!Colour me pleasantly surprised.

This winch works in places where a winch-equipped vehicle can't go, and electricity can't reach. I winched a 20ft 12" diameter log out of the woods, 100ft each pull. No way I could have done it any other way. Getting a 2nd battery for it...
